We are asking for donations of a non-perishable food item to help keep the food pantry supplied.  You can bring your donation to church office.  There will also be a collection box in the Narthex.  Suggested items include: peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned beans, canned meats, spaghetti, canned spaghetti sauce, boxed items (macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, etc), powdered milk, etc.

 

 

USHERS and GREETERS

Don't forget to sign up for your turn to be a Greeter, Usher or Scripture Reader at either of our three worship services.  Two  Usher/Greeters and one Scripture Reader are needed for each service.

ALTAR FLOWERS

The Presbyterian Women monitor the altar flowers. There is a flower chairperson for each month. If you would like to chair one month, please call the church office.

 

 

CHILDREN AND SUMMERTIME

Summertime is here. It is a time for school-age children to travel south to visit "grandma and grandpa." Last summer we saw an influx of children swinging through the sanctuary and Sunday school room doors. And what a grand sight to see, indeed! There is nothing like the smile and laughter of a small child to bring a smile to our own faces. As these youngsters come into the sanctuary, let us all be mindful to make their visit a happy one.

Located in the narthex on a rack of hooks, provided by Scott Fulks, you may have noticed our "Children's Worship Bags." Each bag includes a lap board with the words of the Lord's Prayer, Gloria Patri and Apostles' Creed.  The bag also includes an enlarged Sunday bulletin, 2 Children's Worship Bulletins each containing lectionary puzzles and activities for ages 3 to 6 and from 7 to 12, pencil and pack of crayons. The children then return the bags to the narthex (but take the bulletins and activities home with them) to be replenished each week with the current lectionary Children's Worship Bulletin, Sunday bulletin, etc.

Sometimes children are timid and, if parents are relatively new to Community Church, they will not be aware of the things we have to offer, or may have forgotten since their last visit. Please help them to help themselves. Remember, we also have Children's Sunday School and Adult Sunday School at the 9:30 hour in Deatherage Hall.

    Remember to watch for playing children while driving.
